What is Farm Camp ?
- 10-12 is the perfect group size for personal attention and social possibilities. We don’t overwhelm the hillside but there are still plenty of people for a game or new friends.
- Group activities and games are balanced by quiet reflection and campers get to choose and suggest activities.
We taste farm foods and prepare a harvest celebration with our families once a week.
- Deer Ridge Farm is not a place we come to teach about nature for six hours a day, i t is our life and home and we share this gifted life with our campers. We’re here when the animals are going to bed and waking up. The woodcocks, hummingbirds, orioles, snakes, toads and turtles are neighbors.
- Farm Camp “culture” runs throughout all sessions and creates a welcoming community. Campers explore, build, care for plants, animals, and soil in every session. Children experience their own physical and intellectual abilities, face challenges, complete tasks, harvest and prepare their own meals, enjoy active games and quiet reflection. Children see the mark of their effort, celebrate in community, and have time to reflect daily!
- Children sing, express gratitude with sincerity, cook and clean up, and laugh each day! Farm Camp could make the rest of your day nicer as you have so much to talk about with your child who spent her/his day basking in the positive attention of compassionate and reflective adult leaders.
